In short
- We collect only what Muslim Daily needs to work: your account, your adhkar progress and the settings you choose.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can delete your account and data at any time, in the app or on our Delete your account page.
1. Who we are
Muslim Daily ("we", "us") helps Muslims read their daily adhkar, keep a streak and encourage each other. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@themuslimdaily.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash; we can never see them.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose it, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We never receive your Google password.
- Sign in with Apple: if you choose it, Apple shares your name (the first time only) and an email address, which can be a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. We never receive your Apple password.
- Profile: your username, and, if you add them, a profile photo and your country.
- Invite code: the username of the person who invited you, if you enter one.
- Messages to support: what you write to us, with your name and email.
Information created when you use Muslim Daily
- Your adhkar activity: the sessions you read and how far you got, your streak, level, points, badges, goals, saved and liked content, and your settings (such as reminder times, theme and Arabic font).
- Family and community: the family circles you create or join, invitations, encouragements you send or receive, and whether you chose to appear on the community board.
- Location (optional): if you allow it, your approximate city and coordinates, used to work out prayer times. You can turn location off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Technical information: the app version, platform (iPhone, Android or web), time zone, a notification token so we can send you reminders, and, for each signed-in device, a description of the device and its IP address, kept to protect your account.
- Website reminders: if you turn on reminders on the website, we keep the address your browser gives us for delivering them, your time zone and the times you chose. This works without an account; if you are signed in, it is linked to your account so we don't remind you about adhkar you have already read. Calendar reminders are created on your device and are not sent to us.
- Error reports: when something goes wrong, the app sends us a short technical report (the error, app version and platform) so we can fix it.
On the website
The website and web app use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your reading progress and display settings on that device. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
3. How we use your information
- To run Muslim Daily: your account, reading progress, streaks, levels, points, family circles and the community board.
- To keep your progress in step on every device you sign in to.
- To send reminders and notifications you have turned on.
- To send emails: sign-in and password codes, important service messages, and occasional updates. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
- To answer your support messages.
- To keep Muslim Daily safe: to protect accounts, prevent abuse and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your information for advertising or profiling.
4. What other people can see
- Your family circles: members see your name, username, profile photo, today's progress, streak and points.
- The community board (only if you turn it on): your first name, the first letter of your last name and your country's flag. Your photo and username are not shown.
- Invitations: people can find you by your exact username to invite you to a circle.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with services that help us run Muslim Daily, and only what they need:
- Our hosting provider, which stores our servers and database.
- Google and Apple, when you choose to sign in with them.
- Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which deliver notifications to your phone. They receive your notification token and the notification text.
- Your browser's push service (Google for Chrome, Mozilla for Firefox, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari), which delivers website reminders. It receives an empty message at your reminder time; the reminder's words are added by your own browser.
- AlAdhan, a calendar service we ask for the Islamic (Hijri) date. No personal information is sent.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our users.
6. How long we keep information
- We keep your information for as long as you have an account.
- When you delete your account, your profile, progress, streaks, points, family memberships, invitations, notifications and settings are deleted from our database straight away, and your profile photo is removed.
- If you own a family circle, it passes to its longest-standing member; a circle with no other members is closed.
- Messages you sent to support are kept so we can keep a record of our help, but they are no longer linked to an account.
- Website reminders are kept until you turn them off, your browser stops accepting them, or you delete your account.
- Records of emails we sent are deleted after 90 days. Copies in our server backups and logs are overwritten in the normal backup cycle, within 30 days.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your profile at any time in Settings.
- Delete your account in the app (Settings, then Delete account) or on our Delete your account page.
- Turn off reminders, location and the community board whenever you like. Website reminders are turned off under Reminders on the website, or in your browser's site settings.
- Unsubscribe from update emails with the link in any of them.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask any question about it, at support@themuslimdaily.app. We reply within 30 days.
8. Security
Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, sign-ins use secure tokens that you can end by signing out, and only the small team that runs Muslim Daily can access the database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.
9. Children
Muslim Daily is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Where information is processed
Our servers may be in a different country from yours. Wherever your information is processed, we protect it as this policy describes.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For important changes, we will also tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
